...Low energy bulbs, known as Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL's) can use up to 80% less power than ordinary bulbs and last up to 8000 hours.

CFL rated bulbs of 7 - 10W, 15 - 18W, 20 - 25W and 32W are the equivalent of 40W, 60W, 100W and 150W ordinary bulbs.

They are available in the more common bayonet fitting as well as the Edison Screw fitting.

These are not the same as Low Voltage Lamps commonly found above kitchen worktops, which require a transformer to operate.
