How to choose the correct fuse for your domestic appliance
Fuses In the domestic environment there are only three fuse types to choose from.

Using a higher rated fuse than is correct for your appliance can lead to overheating and fire should a fault develop.

Always ensure the correct fuse is inserted in your plug irrespective of what fuse is supplied when you purchase it.


To fit a replacement fuse in a plug:

1. Carefully unscrew the cover or ease out the fuse holder from the base of the plug
2. Remove the exisiting fuse and replace with one of the correct rating.
3. Modern electrical appliances will have a sticker or plate showing the maximum power consumption in WATTS (W).
( For appliances up to 700W use a 3 amp fuse )
( For appliances between 700W and 1200W use a 5 amp fuse )
( For appliances over 1200W use a 13 amp fuse )
